Research projects cover a wide range of clinical problems and bring to bear upon them recent theoretical developments in our understanding of the role and interaction of behaviour, cognition, and emotion in the development and maintenance of these problems. clinical and health psychology Currently funded projects include the following: the application of cognition-emotion approaches to alcohol addiction; clinical and health psychology an evaluation of cognitive-behaviour therapy for psychosis and of dialectical behaviour therapy for borderline personality disorder; and a major study on the treatment of disruptive behaviour in children, which examines the significance of cognitive-emotional factors in parents of such children. Other major areas of research include autism, challenging behaviour in people with learning disabilities, and child and adolescent psychological disorders, including ADHD.clinical and health psychology The group works closely with the NHS in North Wales, evidenced by joint chairs in the Psychology of Addictive Behaviours and the Clinical Psychology of the Elderly.
